One Day

Emma: I can't believe I'm actually here with you.

Dexter: Why? 

Emma: Mmm?

Dexter: Why?

Emma: Remember at University, before we'd spoken, I had a crush on you.

[Dexter smiles]

Emma: Ridiculous, I know. But, when we almost um...did it, that night, I couldn't believe that...that poems aren't everything. What have you got to say to that?

Dexter: Well, I already knew.

Emma: What do you mean you knew?

Dexter: Well, I sort of guessed. All those uh...epic letters and compilation tapes. So go on then, what happened?

Emma: I got to know you. You cured me of you.

Dexter: You know, I still like to read those poems. What rhymes with Dexter?

Emma: Prick. It's a half rhyme.

[Dexter smiles as he listens to Emma's voice message unaware that she has been killed after being struck by a truck whilst riding her bike]
Emma: Hey, there. Just to say I'm running late but I'm on my way and I'm sorry for being so snappy this morning. Just wanted to say you're a fine thing Dexter Mayhew. I love you very much. Okay, there you go, lucky you.
